Posted - 04/05/2016 : 08:15:47 My feedback is that that section of the book was sensationalism at its best and that is why that specific part was used as the excerpt.
I have heard the book itself actually does hold some value but frankly I think what they said about PG is garbage. Any article that trashes a teenager for his life choices and then somehow tries to drag an organization like PG into it to make some sort of loose connection is beyond ridiculous. Yes, PG is a business and yes they are nearly an empire, but the article was purposely saying some false and sensational things. For example, PG does NOT hold showcases for 9u! Yes, there is a softball group that has 4u teams ranked, but no idea what that has to do with PG.
Living so close to LakePoint we are all lucky that our 9u-13u kids have the chance to play there while the bog boys are busy with middle school and HS ball. How great is it that PG has opened up their fields to those kids? How many 9u kids can say they played on artificial turf? It's a thrill and a privilege that our kids can do that once or twice a year, depending on the team budget.
It is not PG's fault if 8th graders parents pay for them to attend showcases. It is not PG's fault that some players sign up for 10+ events per year, yes I get that can be expensive but PG is just offering, no one HAS to buy! The parents who think little Johnny will be left behind if he doesn't do XXX are the real issue. PG offers a product but it is free will if people buy it.
