Posted - 02/24/2016 : 14:46:46 Does anyone have any experience with the baseball pants with a velcro hem? I had my son's new uniform pants pinned up for alterations and they pointed out the velcro hem so I brought them back home to look up more on them. They're about 3 inches too long and the velcro hem takes them up about 2.5 inches. While I love the idea, I'm not feeling 100% about the feature. Does anyone have any experience with pants like these?
With the velcro being along the back only, will the hem stay up securely during game play? Will the velcro weaken after multiple washes? I would hate to figure this out in the middle of a game as he's tripping over his feet. That said, it would be nice to give him a little extra time in them if others have had success with it. |

Posted - 03/06/2016 : 17:47:54 Here's our experience with the Velcro hem pants: at 13u we had kids with short legs and kids with long legs. We had kids who were going to grow 2 inches from Jan to Oct and we wanted to use those pants all year to cut costs. The Velcro grows with you. Kids back then were all about pants practically wrapped around their back spikes but hindsight? Pants at the knees would have worked too. |

Posted - 02/25/2016 : 13:27:24 It probably would work Crazyforball. However, I think it may look better to just have them hemmed and, due to timing, that's probably what I'll do. The velcro strip in the back is sewn in a vertical strip, approx. 4-5 inches long (don't currently have the pants in front of me). Not sure how I missed it the first time. :-) |

Posted - 02/24/2016 : 16:22:05 Thanks SuperStar! Ours are Easton as well and I am leaning the same way but thought I would ask before sewing over a possibly good feature. I even thought about tacking the hem up myself on one or two other sides but then it would be a cleaning nightmare so that's out for sure. :-) |

Posted - 02/24/2016 : 16:04:53 Same thing with my son. With the Velcro being on one side, I did not chance it and had them sewn like normal. I don't see how they would stay up. His pants are Easton. They should have done it on both sides and it would have worked. My honest opinion is, that this is only used for the hem measurement. I don't think they are designed to do any thing else. Hope this helps. |
