10 U is the age group I pay the most attention to. Any opinion on who wins or who is in the championship this weekend? 16 team tournament should be fun

I guess I see what you mean but they should have had their status changed a month ago. My parents where made aware that we could be moved up a classification and that we would have to work through the scheduling.I planned our schedule in January all the way through the end of July. Next month I will hand out schedules that go from August 1 until the end of November. Changing schedules and adjusting to what you have planned is part of travel ball.

usssa needs more local help to get the re-classifications right, especially at the younger age groups. This would help to avoid mid-season adjustments after teams have planned their entire schedule.

Challenge is to find local experts who do not have a dog in the hunt to avoid biased opinions of where teams should be. I spotted several 10U re-class miss-steps, sent them into usssa and offered to help. My son plays 10U, so I can understand why they passed. There's no doubt MC Red is a high AAA team, but to force them to change their status now doesn't seem right to me. I don't think the Coach purposely sandbagged, I think he just didn't know what he had after losing some top notch players from the prior years team.

I just hope we don't get them in an early bracket game at States.

My kids love getting together and playing baseball. Can't have to much better of a weekend than going somewhere and playing baseball. Wish we played every weekend. Parents are good about fundraising.

Parkview, Norcross, Peachtree Ridge Lions, Dobbs Creek Warriors, Mill Creek, Collins Hill, GA Raptors, and ~30 other North metro AA/AAA teams play in leagues so can only do occasional tourneys until our seasons end the 1st week of June. You'll see a lot of new teams getting into the fray mid-June.

We have 9 league games over the next 15 days so cant do any tourneys until the end of the Month when we'll play in the NIT Wood Bat in Forsyth County. Then sub-States, State and World Series in Kissimmee.

I'll have to look into some of the teams you mentioned. Never heard of a few of them.

7 tourneys in 9 weekends in addition to all those you've already played? Did you guys get some of that stimulus money?

Thank you. Added five players this spring and had to drop a couple. Took awhile for team to come together. We are playing good baseball.

I will try to rank them in order.
1. Parkview Panthers - If you say they are that good.
2. Georgia Force- Have a win over Stixx Baseball beat you didn't know that.
3.South Spalding Spartans-Have not been beat.
4.GA Titans- Homer pick I guess but we are playing great.
5.Southern Sluggers- Mix of some boys off of Stixx, a eleven year old team, and 3-4 that just play on this team.
6.Ga Redbirds- have not seen them but their numbers look good.
7. Fayetteville Dirt Bags- They keep winning.
8.Georgia Scorchers- Did not play great this weekend but record against outside of this weekend is to good to ignore.
9.DC Warriors- Have not seen your team but see they are like us and will play anyone.
10.Tift County Thunder- Beat you don't know about this team either. They are very solid.

the rest in no order
Norcross
PR Lions
Ga Select Warriors
Chain

South Georgia Baseball is coming up. What tournament are some of those North Georgia playing in? We have not played a tournament this year south of Stockbridge. I am trying to bring my team north to play against the better teams. Playing teams better than us only makes us better.

Kudos to your team! The PR Lions surprised for sure. Glad to see them turn it around, they've been taking some lumps of late.

Wanna help me take a stab at ranking the 10U AA's?

I have 12 teams ID'd, may be missing some, and cant rank very accurately since not enough games played between them if any.

Top of the class:
Parkview: (have outscored PR Lions 27-5 in 2 league games played this Spring and are 11-1 in a deep league that same PR Lions are 5-7 in, Yoeat AAA Midway DD in Feb tourney when they were still Majors)
Chain: not much history, but can hang w/ Major teams
SP Spartans

The rest in no particular order:
Redbirds
Norcross: only team to beat Parkview in a league game
Scorchers (must have pitching depth issues to lose to PR like that)
HC Razorbacks (keep going deep into brackets, overdue for win)
GA Titans (do they ever take a weekend off?)
PR Lions (no easy outs in their line up)
Fayette Dirt Bags
GA Select Eagles
DC Warriors

Your thoughts? Am I missing any?
Titan1 Posted - 05/03/2009 : 23:14:05

I assume you are talking about the Georgia Scorchers. Look up from there and the Fayetteville Dirtbags have a power ranking of 1402 #3 in the nation. Just proud of my little team won 9 of last 10 and most of the wins have been dominating.

This team has a higher power rating in their class (AA) than the GA Bandits from Ringgold, or the Sandtown Red Sox have in theirs! They are even higher than Mizuno Glory 10U Majors!

Meanwhile, MC Red and W GA Bandits who had a lower rating get bumped up...hmmm. Go figure.

Maybe USSSA just hasn't gotten to them yet.

I'll rank them for you after this weekend's results are all in.

I'll share this right now, 2 of the top 10 have not played a USSSA game yet this season, are currently ranked between 68th and 75th in AA, and you've likely never heard of, or seen them! One of them is top 4.

. BTW, saw the titans down 4 runs to Holly Springs and came back to win that game. Also down 6 runs to Georgia Outlaws and came back to win. Both of these happened in the last inning. Should be a good tournament either way

I saw them comeback from an 13 run hole vs Buford to win 18-17 They have good depth, a couple big strong boys, and never give up. They are in a weaker bracket so shouldnt have to burn much pitching in the pool. Pool D is the toughest by far, so those teams might burn too many innings to go the distance Sunday. I'll go w/ Titans in the other semi. Wranglers have tough time scoring, and Titans have more games under their belt this season which should pay off in close games.
