What make USSSA move teams during the season to a higher raking??? |

No baseballpapa, you were not wrong about that. The only way to bump up your USSSA power rankings is to play the top teams in USSSA tournaments.
Looks like Travel Ball Select has designated certain tournaments, USSSA and non-USSSA, to determine their weekly rankings. If you play in one, the better you do, the more points you get. The more points, the higher you rank on the list.
Looks similar to Scott's "Mazzone Cup" concept from last year.

All the team swapping has not finished yet. You have another 2 years or so of that to go on. It is hard to stabalize when you have players moving teams year to year.
What ends up happening is the opposite affect. Teams are forced to play Major because all their players played on Major teams before, even though, as a group, they are really just a AAA team. |

Goes to show you that you are never too old to learn new things. I didn't know you could increase your power rating other than playing in a USSSA tournament. That is very interesting and shows why this post is so important. |

The reason I asked is because the top 3 Majors in 11u just got there this week...Longhorns were the top in the 11u in points...I saw these teams 2 were AAA and one was AA and now they are MAJORS...even one AA teams was bumped to AAA... |

Have they ever bumped teams up mid-season? Or, do they just wait to re-classify them the following season?
papa..you misunderstood my analogy. Let me re-state...if a team as dominant in their class and State as the 10U Bandits have 1100 points, then a team with 1300 is most certainly in too low a class.
C.Mort...I had hoped that by 11u all the sandbagging and over-reacher's would have been flushed out in 9U/10U play, and by 11u the classifications would be accurate. I guess I'll be waiting till 12U.
I suppose there will always be new teams in every age group who will under classify themselves, and get a lot of extra games for their money. 3 and outs are no fun.

BMOSER was referencing Power Ranking values, not points. The only way to bump them up into the stratosphere is to beat all the top teams multiple times. It sounds like the Bandits are trying to head in that direction. |

BMoser: If the Bandits chose to they could bump the USSSA points up into the stratosphere or whatever that is higher than the sky. The Bandits choose to play anywhere the best teams are that particular week and we could care less is that is USSSA, BPA, USTBA, AAU, Triple Crown. We just take a real close look to see where the great teams are and enter that tournament. If you notice we play few USSSA tournaments but do come away with some good points. |

Bmoser, I think they would also consider the W/L's. In your example, the Scorchers do have a high power ranking, but if you look at their record, they are <500 against 3A teams. At this rate, they will probably be forced up with the same team for next season though. |

Morty lol...But yes thats what I mean..I see certain teams whipping their AA counterparts and some get moved and other don't...even see one jump from AA to Majors....All this is in the 11u age group...There was a team Georgia Storm AA team that went to an OPEN 11u tournament and beat just about everyone they played, only loss was in bracket play only to STIXX baseball..Even STIXX baseball is a 11u AAA baseball club and has beatean all AAA and AA teams..But are still AAA and others are moved to MAJORS..doesn't make much sence to me.... |

I think what C.MORTON was asking is "how does USSSA determine who to bump up to a higher classification?"
Am I wrong MORTY?
I'd guess they use their own power rankings. Take a look at the Georgia Scorchers in AA. How long can USSSA allow them to remain AA? With a power ranking of 1304, I'd say they are in the danger zone. Heck the Bandits are only ~1100 in Majors. |

This keeps teams from sandbagging. Also new teams may not know where to put themselves. They are better off registering low and being forced up than registering high and struggling all year. |

this is how they are ranked in USSSA:
Power Rating System
The formula was designed/prepared in 1998 by Kelly Burke.
The system was designed to fairly rank teams (of the same class) that have not played
