My son has been offer a spots on a few teams in the Cobb area. We live out from the areas. What is the best was to fine out what teams/coaches are on the up and up. We really don't know any one from the area so I have no inside info on any of the teams. I have researched their records in the past but that does paint the full pictures. I want my son to have all the info before he makes his choice. I don't want to post team names incase of bad feed back. Any thoughts? Thanks for any info.....

IF you can research the team's records for say, 2015 season, you should be able to research even further back (2014, 2013-- USSSA site is a GREAT resource for this) and see his teams he's managed, and rosters. Are a lot of the kids the same? (Meaning little to no turnover, loyalty, tough to break-in to?) If the team is the same, "GA Hitters" for example, the past 3-4 years, yet there are only 2-3 common kids over the years, why so much turn-over? Check the sub-section on this forum for the age the team was THIS year, to see if anything is posting about the team/good/bad, etc. Maybe you can find a parent on the team, via a post about the team. If the coach posted in the "XXU Team Openings" section, click on his ID and look at old posts, see what he's posted and such. Has he ever posted something about "parents" in a negative way? Or are his posts seemingly always positive? Look at Facebook, find the team page, see if there is any drama. Maybe reach out to a parent there, inquiring about the coach/team, etc.

How old is your kid? Different age groups require different things. For example, if your kid is 16 and is looking for a scholarship I would say get him on a team that plays the big events so he can be seen. If your kid is 11 it isn't about the big events it's about field time with knowledgeable people.
