We must remember--that we only get ONE CHANCE to influence and raise our children. Sunday Church--Sunday night Church & Wednesday Church is an EXTENSION of what we are already doing in the home with our children. The Bible says that in Deut 6:6-9--These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at HOME and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." We must keep it in prospective---it is NOT OK to play baseball every single weekend from February---August. You must make a stand in what you believe. We have all been guilty and sucked into the fold. I have coached travel ball for four years and one of the reasons that I stay involved is to control WHEN WE PLAY and we don't play every weekend. I've always been intentional about giving a devotion ALWAYS on Sunday mornings, however, I am constantly talking to the boys about the MOST IMPORTANT DECISION in their life is "having a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ." Just ask Albert Pujols what is the most important thing in his life and he will tell you "it is not baseball." I've had the opportunity to get to know Albert on a personal level and Albert addressed my team this past year and he shared with the Sandy Plains Wildcats that "knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Lord & Savior is most important." The bottom line is when you allow baseball to become #1 in your life and you communicate this to your children by playing EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND. It is absolutely INSANE to play EVERY weekend. There has to be some time for lake time, fishing trips and most important--"your spiritual life." Coaches---Please ACKNOWLEDGE SUNDAYS as being the day of worship and either give a message or ask one of your parents to give a message. These boys want more than "JUST BASEBALL"--give them something that is far lasting than baseball. Invest in their life and give them NUGGETS that will make them a better young men--better husbands and most of all--"A Better Christian." If we are Christians--"We must stand firm in what we believe and BE DIFFERENT ON PURPOSE!

Agree with whatever religion you might believe in, or not believe in, should be a subject of HOME. If you want to start a team, with a particular religous bent, than go right ahead. I feel that is anyones right. I would have no problem with however you deem appropriate to run YOUR team. It's just my belief ( and I told the Jewish kids on my team "don't ask for Saturdays off like I've told them one muslim on my team 'Nope we ain't stopping the game so you can pray to Mecca") baseball is not played on anyone's schedule, we play on Wednesdays occasionally, Friday's, Saturday's, and hopefully every Sunday. If your God can't make allowances for you to play these days, that is perfectly fine by me. Just don't ask me to make allowances for you to remain on this team. I tell my team, the God I believe in is most happy when he sees his children having fun, and even if it's Sunday morning at 9AM He's smiling watching His children have fun. Besides that, I leave the religion to the kids parents and ask them to keep it at HOME.(where it belongs) I wonder what the kids on my team, who's parents ( who I consider always know what's best for their kids) who are not Christians would think if Albert Pujols told them that the most important decision in their life was having a relationship with Jesus Christ would think..( that their parents were idiots/liars?) or if I had a Rabbi tell the Christian kids.......or a Sheik tell them all they were infidals for not believing in .....or an Atheist tell them they are all fools for believing in any religion...Like I said, you have every right to run your team anyway you would like...but I don't think you have the right to tell any coach he's insane, or anything else if he does not believe in the same things you do..and yes, I'm one of the guys that believe it is OK to play every weekend, so I take a stand on what I believe in.
