Tech for a long time and, more recently, UGA are obviously very good programs.

What other schools in the state have programs strong enough to merit some monitoring by pro scouts?

Thanks!

I meant that I believe KSU will have the best college baseball team in GA in 2-3 years.

As for Mr Sabathia, he is a disaster from the time he takes the ball out of hid glove until he releases it. Last Thursday's MDJ had a picture of him in mid windup. There are a gaggle of irresponsible "gurus" telling unsuspecting but should know better fathers to copy what the best in the business do. Let's see what these gurus have to say about Mr Sabathia a year from now. That picture in the MDJ is about as bad as it gets.

Lets see if those patriots, the Steinbrenner sons, encourage Mr Sabathia to pitch in the World Baseball Classic.

CC's torso is postured back toward second base (behind his center of gravity. this causes lots of stress of his elbow / shoulder. Couyld be fine for years, could be problems tomorrow.

Anybody know how many of the juco's have baseball, and what about the smaller 4-yr schools?

Pronate,

The Sox are being suspiciously quiet. Must mean the Yankees are committing suicide and Theo doesn't want to distract them.

What, specifically, don't you like about CC's mechanics?

Do you mean KSU will be good in 2-3 years or has been good for 2-3 years or was good 2-3 years ago?

If you can play scouts will find you no matter where you play, if you aren't labeled as a stud out of hs you may sit the bench at UGA for 2 years. If you get a chance to play at a college that isn't top 10 D-1, you might get playing time and put up some numbers that have people talking and they will come.
People will come, Ray.
for reasons they can't even fathom.

As far as best teams in GA:

Now UGA

2-3 years KSU

PS Good news for the Red Sox Nation today. The CC Sabathia acqusition will assure the Yankees a trip to nowhere. If he gives them even one year with that mechanic I'd be very surprised. The Steinbrenner sons are going to destroy that once proud franchise.

We went to the one at Samford. It is a great way to see what a school has on the roster as well. It is just a showcase for the pro scouts.

Scout Days are run by most colleges for the benefit of the pro scouts. They run all of the players through tryout type events.

60 yard dash

Batting Practice off coaches

Coaches run them through a series of drills designed to show off arms and defensive ability.

Catchers are timed in pop-to-pop.

It all ends with an intra-squad game to showcase the top pitchers, players hitting off live pitching, defensive skills and baserunning.

Stan, how does "Scout Day" work?

Thanks!

I was renting a scissor-lift and starting talking baseball (surprise) and the salesman told me that Mercer had four guys drafted last year. If true, that's pretty stout.

UGA, GT, Georgia Southern, Kennesaw State, Most of the JUCO programs are pretty good in Georgia too. Almost every College in GA will have atleast one player that will get drafted to the next level. They may never make it out of Rookie ball, but will be good enough to get a shot.

I attended Scout Day at Kennesaw State and there were between 20-25 scouts in attendance including cross checkers. They have a couple of players that are possible first rounders in the upcoming draft.
