Board has been slow lately so, Would having a maximum runs scored per inning in the 8 to 10 or 8 to 12 year old Travel Leagues help with pitch counts and save arms for kids? Say a 10 runs per inning rule?
Just wanted to throw it out there. I am not sure how I stand. With most organizations having a mercy rule for the game ending would it make a difference?

Minimum runs per inning changes the way you approach the game and takes you away from fundamental baseball. It also can get a team into a situation where they have two innings left but are mathmatically unable to come back due to the limitation. Time limits are bad enough, but in leaving coach pitch, they should also leave behind the kiddy rules of "max runs per inning".

Most games I have seen both sides get their 3 outs before the game gets out of hand, if not that is what the mercy run rule is for. It's real baseball they are playing high school rules so no run rule per inning.

I think for select baseball the run rules should be the way they are now.... You get 3 outs and the other team can't score any more in that particular inning. There are already classifications in some organizations to help with pitting teams against each other who should be at least close in talent and skill levels. If a pitcher has given up enough runs in an inning to warrant a run rule, he probably has reached his pitch count, regardless of the number of pitches thrown.
