hey, i know little league baseball isn't what most of us would call real baseball, however wouldn't it be great to have that kind of experience on tv? let's face it, cooperstown doesn't really give you the best of competition every game so why not give our 12 yr olds the once in a lifetime experience to go all the way and play against teams around the world. you can always pick up right where you left off the following year and get right back into what we call travel ball...what do you think?

For +/-85% of the kids playing rec baseball, Little League is great for them, the top +/-15% need to be on a bigger field.

Little league baseball has to be the worst brand of rec ball around. The only thing it has going for it is the marketing machine that is ESPN. Teach your kids that the learing experience they are receiving by playing travel ball far out ways the getting 15 seconds of fame of being on ESPN.

Little League World Series bores me after playing a few years of travel baseball. 46 foot mound, 60 foot bases. 12 and 13 year olds playing on small fields.
Alot of your fire ballers at 12 from 46 feet will be throwing slow meat when the mound goes back 14 and a half feet further in a couple of years.

A Little League district is limited to it's boundaries determined by a total population of the geographic area. Little League requires that a district can be no more than 20,000 people. Take the east cobb complex and expand it out by 20,000 people (not households but people) and you know have your new league as well as all the kid that could play in that league. In a nuts*****, if you live more than +/- 4 miles from the park than you can't play for "East Cobb Little League".

I still suggest that each 10U and 12U team begin looking at AAU, NABF, AABC, PONY and Super Series national championships next year so they can go to Memphis for the NYBC. NABF and Super Series will be in Memphis, AAU will be in the Southeast. PONY is in California and AABC is in Puerto Rico, but both give money to help offset expenses.

While it won't be on ESPN, MLB-TV starts on January 1 in 60% of the US (direcTV, Comcast, etc), games will be on MLB-TV. If you watch any of the replay's (YouthMajors.com) the production value is very good.

I believe Little League has restrictions around players living in the district where the park is. I would say that only about 10% of the players out of EC actually live within a 10 mile radius of EC.

I would say you have a better shot of the NYBC tournament getting televised since it has a connection to MLB. MLB.com did a great job of providing game feeds. Who knows, that might progress into some game time on ESPN or sports South or one of the other sports stations.
