Can anyone at East Cobb please tell the world who the 13U Astros coaching staff will be in 2009? How is something like that not resolved before your biggest event of the year?

In response to scotsar:
Scott : take a step back Sir---- No thanks

first , who or what is an "astro caliber player" is quite subjective.--I should have said "Astros already picked"

then no matter how talented he may be in reality (reputation notwithstanding) it is only ONE player not a team. was not speaking of one individual player-- " what happens if the players elect not to play for the assigned coach"
we sometimes forget that & unfortunately some of the players this age begin to as well. agree![/u]

It is resolved now. Got cleared up yesterday. Tony Coward, as was last year, is the 13U coach for 2009.

Since there is still one 2008 12U EC team still playing, the roster may not be publicized until they have finished.

Typically the Astros roster is finalized one week after the tryouts.

Insider,

You say there has been no offers....I bet that statement is a major surprize to more than 7 to 9 families! There are no secrets here... three off the Stallions, a couple off the Bombers, 1 or two from the 12U Astro's and a couple maybe from Mentium....Now that is pretty common knowledge regarding one of the coaching possibilities...the other probably has not yet made offers.....OR are you saying that now all offers are null and void?

Astros "A" and Astros "B"??? I'd be out of town too if it were me. And I only have to narrow down my sons options between a couple of teams. It looks like future Astros are having to choose between teams and coaches. Are those contracts in pencil? It is unfortunate for all involved, but you have to laugh about the present state of youth travel baseball. Anybody got leads on a 14U team in 2010?

i've heard otherwise. but this, like everything else at this wonderful, crazed time of the year that we all hear, could be off base. heh.

This will all be resolved when Guerry returns on Thursday. Until then, there will be NO announcement of players for the 13U Astros team and there has been NO offers and NO rejections.

I would say if you have not heard one way or the other by 5pm on Sunday, you did not make the team. Otherwise the opportunitity is still open.

It is an unfortunate circumstance that will hopefully be resolved quickly on Thursday.

Cannot guarantee this to be true, but I heard a couple of weeks ago that it is Tony Coward (last year's 13U Astros manager) and Michael Grade (last year's 12U Stallions assistant).
