I was referring to Team Georgia. I was told that Team Georgia is the "elite" AHS feeder team and is being sponsored by the AHS head coach.

Team Georgia was started by Chris McRaney prior to him being named coach at AHS. None of the Team Georgia teams are considered feeder teams. Each age group had open tryouts and have a number of high schools represented. Sorry for the confusion.

Gold Glove,

The one kid that I know of from the Force is definitely zoned for Chattahoochee (even with the new districting). The Roswell Hornet is currently zoned for Chattahoochee but will be redistricted to the new high school. The guy from Chattahoochee is still zoned for Chattahoochee.

My point is that a real feeder only has kids districted to the school. Why develop kids for another program?

Now if I am a high school coach, I don't mind if my kids play on travel teams (major level) because:

1) They get more games - go deeper in tournaments
2) Higher level competion

Downside:

1) Other coaches don't protect their arms (too many pitches)
2) They might get poached (move)

You are absolutely wrong, the former Force player is zoned for Alpharetta. The only former Force player zoned for the Hooch is playing for Team Georgia. Maybe you are confusing the two teams, because there is no former Hornet or Chattahoochee player on the Jr. Raiders but Team Georgia has a player from each.

The current make up of Alpharetta:

4 - 7th grade Jr. Raiders - all zoned for AHS
3 - Wills Park Bulls - 2 zoned for AHS and 1 for the new HS
1 - Wills Park Force - zoned for AHS
2 - Alpharetta A's (one 12U, one 13U) - both zoned for AHS
1 - Sandy Plains Wildcats - zoned for Roswell - going private
1 - 12U Astros - zoned for AHS
1 - Wills Park Bombers - zoned for AHS

So as you can see the only two players not zoned for AHS do not have feeder teams to participate on.

However I do agree with your assessment of (Major) travel vs. feeder.

I hope this helps clear up your confusion.

Who's coaching the team? Are your SS/RHP and left handed hitting 3 hole hitter coming back? Without them ... ouch!

Just because players played for other teams last year doesn't mean they are not districted for Alpharetta. But you are somewhat correct in that only 10+ of the players are in the current AHS zone. Pretty close to still being a feeder team IMHO. In fact they have more AHS districted players this year than they did last year.

I am sure only one of Alpharetta's players played for the Wills Park Force last year (he is zoned for Alpharetta). Most of the Force players went to the Milton feeder team. I am not sure who played for the Hornets or Cougars that are on the team. Two players came over from the A's (again both districted for AHS) and one from the 12U Astros (also districted for AHS).

Kennesaw Mustangs are intact.

In no particular order:
Sandy Plains Wildcats (if H.S. coach is available)
Atlanta Monarchs
Team Georgia
Elite Red Sox
Georgia Bandits
Mill Creek Vipers

Sandy Springs Trojans, new SF War Eagles and Windward Rangers will compete with the Mid level Majors next year.

I am not sure if the DeKalb Tigers or Kennesaw Mustangs stayed intact.

The West Cobb teams scrambled around a bit but will field at least one or two very good teams.

Roswell Hornets lost virtually all of their top players.

Team Wilson lost a number of players and combined with the Cherokee Reds.

Some of last year's "competitive teams" that are no longer:
South Forsyth War Eagles (players went to a number of different teams)
Wills Park Force (most top players went to Milton Feeder team)
ECB Hurricanes (don't know where Curtis' players ended up)
Wills Park Bulls (players went to a number of different teams)
SS Longhorns (many players will play 9th grade/H.S. ball)

The out of town teams that will be strong again if they stayed intact are:
Effingham Young Guns, Tri-City Stixx, Shiloh Heat and the Outlaws.

Top Feeder teams:
Milton (can compete with most travel teams)
Gwinnett teams, (such as Collins Hill, Norcross)
Alpharetta

It appears that the 14U's at East Cobb have settled out into 6 or 7 teams, as follows ...

Astros (Roberts)
Titans (Martin/White)
Braves (Monahan/Weyenberg)
Raiders (Knight/Hanner)
Cardinals (Moreno/Levine)
Cougars (Fontanella)
Cubs (Howell)

From what I've heard, the first 5 teams seem to be confirmed and the last 2 teams still have some speculation regarding team name (Cougars) and ECB affiliation (Cubs).

Please don't confuse this post with absolute fact. Things change rapidly.

The 14U Braves have announced that Shane Monahan and his brother Joey are coaching their team this year. Shane is an ex ECB player, ACC Player of the Year at Clemson, and played for the Seattle Mariners for two years. He and his family are moving back home after living in Vail, Colorado for the last couple years. I think most of the old coaches are stepping back and are going to let these two coach the team.
SPWildcats Posted - 08/13/2008 : 18:05:53
Yes, the Cardinals under coach Moreno's direction have settled on East Cobb. That makes 7 confirmed teams with rumors still abounding about others, including Curtis and possibly the coaches from last season's 14U Cubs.
upthemiddle Posted - 08/13/2008 : 15:27:49
I heard he was considering either taking a 13u or 14 team
travelbbdad Posted - 08/12/2008 : 20:46:19
I sure Curtis George and Hurricanes will have a team at 14U
upthemiddle Posted - 08/12/2008 : 19:56:53
It is my understanding that their will be an ECB CARDINALS team , should be a great team no matter where they played out of, just from the fact that Victor Moreno head instructer @BATTERSUP is coaching the team.....very impressed with his teaching skills
perlm Posted - 08/11/2008 : 16:05:38
Incorrect on the Cardinals being a ECB 14U team.
perlm Posted - 08/11/2008 : 15:31:27
I believe there will also be a 14U Cardinals team in this age group
SPWildcats Posted - 08/11/2008 : 09:51:33
As of yesterday's meeting, the 2009 14U teams are:

Astros (Roberts)
Braves (Weyenberg)
Diamondbacks (Butcher)
Raiders (Hanner)
Longhorns (Henderson)
Cougars (Fontanella)
