Posted - 06/02/2014 : 16:02:08 It wont be long until Lake Point fields will be on line. Ill just bet they will have the best drainage of any fields in the world. Maybe tournaments will be fun again even with these rainy days in the summer.. I think they will cost more but it will be worth it. I have a 9 yr old grandson that plays travel ball. Ill be looking forward to many tournaments there in the future |

Note entirely true. You can use molded cleats, so turfs, tennis shoes and molded cleats.
Definitely get a pair of the cleats. On first couple of days of 15U WWBA, you could easily see the difference between players with molded cleats having traction vs. those with turfs/tennis shoes sliding all over. In a rundown, you won't have a chance. Also a lot of feet sliding out on some swings.
By the end of the week, almost all players were wearing molded cleats. Probably a good week for Dick's, Sports Authority and Academy Sports. |

Posted - 06/26/2014 : 15:03:34 The entire facility (baseball fields, soccer fields, lacrosse fields, sand volleyball courts, etc) are first class. There are definitely no shortcuts when being built. I know there will be some getting used to the rules but to have an awesome place to play, everything can't be free, and must be maintained. The great part about the turf fields is you will be able to play 20 minutes after it stops raining. No dragging, applying turfus, etc. With the number of back to back games being played, spikes appear to give the turf a beating, particularly the mounds. I know we have played down at the field in Peachtree City and had to use turf shoes, and it worked out just fine. I think most players are just playing in turfs and not going out and buying molded cleats.
Eventually they will have video recording each field and will probably have that available for viewing if you are not on-site. That will be awesome.

Posted - 06/26/2014 : 14:49:28 Any of you going to any PG events at Lake Point (or anywhere else for that matter) should go to each of the websites and read them to make sure you are prepared. On the bottom of the Lake Point website, there is a link called "policies". Click on it and read it. Go to the PG website and it will say - in red - "no metal cleats are permitted on Lake Point or Home Plate fields". It's not a bad idea to do this any time you are playing in a tournament, but I think both these websites have done a good job of posting what you need to know. Perfect Game in particular. You will be able to look up your schedule, follow scores, find out what fields you are scheduled to play on, etc...

Good luck to all of you playing in the WWBA events coming up. It really is a great experience!! |

Yes. No metal cleats. Molded cleats seem best. |

Posted - 06/26/2014 : 07:43:48 All of the complaints are pretty interesting. You have to ask yourself would you rather play on garbage fields with horrible bathrooms and rundown fences, dugouts, trash everywhere, etc. The term "you get what you pay for" is appropriate here. Does anyone think that this facility was built for free? Pretty sure it wasn't. |

Posted - 06/25/2014 : 07:58:27 These rules have been around at most of the tournaments for a long time and simply were not being enforced. It will soon spread to the other parks as well. They obviously have to find a way to pay for those facilities but there should be a better answer than water and ice. |

Posted - 06/24/2014 : 23:22:51 Boy, with all these complaints, I'm glad my son is past all this and I don't have to buy him a couple $2 waters during a game with a bunch of scouts and recruiters!! Just can't imagine that.
Wait... I had to do that at almost every park we ever played at!! In fact, I went to my 6 yr old nephew's all-star tournament last weekend and payed $5 to get in to see one, 1 hour game and I paid ... $2 for a bottle of water!! Oh my. |

Posted - 06/24/2014 : 21:32:35 Oh they'll give you the water cooler with cups......but the water is warm. If you want ice in your water cooler, it is an additional $10. That's right. $10 for a bag of ice. A friend wanted a baggie of ice for her son's shoulder after he pitched. They would not give it to her. Another team mom tried to bring in a small cooler with iced washcloths for the players on her team and after arguing with them, they escorted her to the dugout to make sure it was really for the team. It was 92 degrees that day. There is no telling how hot it was on the turf field, even with the cooling system. It is a very nice park, but I am disappointed with some of their policies. It's a money grab. |

Anybody got a link to that Perfect Game page with said policy? I can't find such an announcement anywhere. |

So what happens when all the kids show up with just metal cleats? Play in turfs and sandals? I know my son does not have any molded cleats. |

Posted - 06/17/2014 : 18:56:11 On another forum, PG staff has stated that the water issue has been addressed, even though it is not their property, but LP's.
"they must not have turned on the hydro chill today"- Hydrochill™ by Shaw sports turf isn't turned on, it just sweats, according to their website.

Posted - 06/16/2014 : 20:32:12 Okay -several games there including today. If these are hydro chill fields and 50 degrees cooler - they must not have turned on the hydro chill today. In addition and BIG problem for me - they do not allow the players to bring in jugs of water or beverage -they are considered coolers. WHAT?? I get I can't bring my iced diet cokes in - I can live with that but to not allow the players to bring in jugs is ridiculous. In addition, teams can "purchase" the jugs with very watered down Gatorade. I'm sorry but it was hot as bloody blazes on those fields today and NO WATER unless you wanted to pay $3 for a little bottle we sell at our high school field for $2. (and we all think that is too expensive at our own high school field!!) I'm waiting for the first lawsuit for a kid that gets heat stroke on these hydro cooled fields. If it's your kid - keep my post and feel free to email me as a witness on your behalf.. |

Posted - 06/13/2014 : 10:00:40 My son's team being part of one of those canceled consolation games, my very strong suspicion is that Perfect Game didn't want to pay for field prep or umps for a "meaningless" consolation game - especially since they won't be refunding any team fees for said game. |

Posted - 06/13/2014 : 07:21:20 Just finished this week at PG while we all see this will be a first class facility it is obvious that they (PG) are scheduling to many games. Numerous teams did not play consolation games because a few fields were unplayable because of overnight rains on Wednesday. I get it, but it just seemed like to many team for to few fields other wise awesome week : ) |

Exactly. They are all guilty. The next PG starts Friday and no schedule yet. TC starts THURSDAY and nothing yet. Ridiculous. |
