In the last year, I've gone through two Green Plasmas and two Gold Plasmas. Rawlings refused to replace the replacement so I bought a new one.

It lasted three weeks. Same thing happened to his teammate with a Rush.

We're 13. He's not hitting it 400 feet.

Some of you are probably saying "Yo, Sherlock, quit buying Plasmas." Well, I'm about to stop buying Plasmas (or the Rush, apparently).

It's a shame. The kids like the bats, but if Rawlings can't do better than this ...

Jim,

Same problem with plasma. We went to the exo -5. It is a great bat. That would be my recommendation.

They do. I bought one for my son at Jonquill Sports back in the winter. You can still find them around every once in a while. They don't make it any more but do make a -5 Exo.

Do they make a -5 Dynasty?

I would have to say, I have seen more busted bats this year than ever. Most all the culprits have been Plasma's or the Worth Prodigy. I have even seen a -5 Rush break as well. (All by 12 year olds)

It looks like the mfg of those bats are trying to thin the walls out to increase performance and having a hard time finding the balance between performance and durability.

I have to say I have not seen any Louisville Slugger bats busted. I have seen some Exo's being hit really hard, but not giving in.

I have heard a LOT of the same stories about the plasmas. My son has been using the TPX Dynasty for the last several years and loves them. I do too because they last forever. The only time we have gotten a new bat is when he moves up to a new weight. He used the -7.5, the -5 and is now using the -3. He is 14, has hit his fair share of home runs and the bat keeps on ticking. In fact, he uses it for games, batting practice, lessons, everything. He doesn't use a second bat. Also, as he has moved up in bats, his past bats are now being used by other kids on the team. Can't say enough good things about the Dynasty.

That is why I have my son's bats crafted by a 4th generation Shamen iron worker, certified and highly regarded with over 50 years of smithing experience with foreign, space-age, titanium-like metals harvested from the sacred mines deep within the Himalayan mountains. Actually we use justbats or baseballexpress for our aluminum bat requirements. I do have a serious question though....are you required to recycle those "composite" bats or does moral turpitude require such disposal?

I too have seen more bats breaking this seanson than in the past. Maybe its time to go to wood bats. They cost a lot less to replace if the bats are breaking that frequently. Perosnally I enjoy the wood bat game a lot better.

On second Plasma Gold now and know plenty others who have had same happen. My son's cracked right around the end cap and ran down the bat. Also, the Plasma Golds seem to be pretty vulnerable to flat spots after alot of hitting. I do love the pop they give coming off the sweet spot!

Know your pain - this year alone two kids on our 12u team has broken 5 Easton Stealth Comp's. We thought it might have been because of the cold but broke the 5th one this past weekend. One thing I can say about Easton is they have always replaced the bats.
