I drove past the location this morning and the bull dozers were fired up with several hard hat wearing machine operators. Looks like they may finally be getting started on this awesome park!

I think the largest benefit of this park will be realized by the players and parents. Perfect Game has established themselves as a great event with the objective to place players in front of scouts. The issue with the current setup of playing at local High Schools is the distance between all the fields. These scouts and recruiters do not have the time to bounce between venues and therefore must focus on teams playing closer to the center of the activity.

Several years ago, my son's team played a game at Cartersville HS and another at Chattahoochee HS. Very nice fields, but it must have been a little too far for the "Lookers".

16 fields within a golf cart drive for the scouts equals a win for all of us!

P.S. Many thanks to those High Schools that do/have provided their fields for this event. I know it is brutal on the yard.

LakePoint is moving on strong! The goal is to open 8 fields in 2014 for Perfect Game and then 8 more the following year. Perfect Game is the major baseball tenant and will be for years to come. Perfect Game will continue to lease East Cobb and other local HS fields for the tournaments. The retail end of the complex is going strong..(the wakeboard park) is already moving ahead!

As a parent whose child is grown - I am jealous of those that will get to enjoy this awesome venue!! Will be a special place!!!

I think as many have stated - the Lakepoint/Perfect Game will not mean the end of East Cobb/Perfect Game. It will just be an addition to not exclusive of. What will be interesting to see, is where the championship game will be held once the fields are complete - which I don't expect for another couple of years. I know that last year it was known that Perfect Game had a 10 year contract with East Cobb - a contract where East Cobb gets paid whether Perfect Game uses the fields or not so as far as the East Cobb question in this equation, I don't think anything will change there for at least several years.

Now being a wise old baseball guy I know that you can only believe very little of what you hear at a baseball field but I also know that some of you guy's are very much in the loop when it comes to this type information. Is Perfect Game part of LakePointe or Is Perfect Game no only a part of LakePointe. Seems like someone from Lakepointe would get more involved and keep all of the passionate baseball people informed of what our baseball future will look like.

I can understand signing a lease, but I would be amazed if it were exclusive and in lieu of LakePointe. Why would they lock themselves into a location with 3 fields and no parking when they can have baseball nirvana 20 minutes away. My complete speculation to whatever rumor you heard is that they likely locked in a deal where they'll continue to use ECB to augment fields in the area. I can't imagine that they'd pick ECB over a LakePointe facility (if and when it becomes a reality) given the limits on scale it presents.

My son is already done with the travel deal. However, I think there will be positives and negatives about this. Positives are that this will continue to make Georgia one of the premier spots in the country for baseball. Having Perfect Game completely associated with Georgia can do nothing but enhance our status as the place to be. When it comes time for the annual PG tournaments, the venues will be much more centralized. No more traveling all over the north part of the city from day to day to go to games. There will be a sense of continuity, no more wondering about whether food will be served at the high school location, whether the scoreboards will be working, etc. Everything will be pretty consistent.

The negative? Right now, there are upwards of 30+ high schools that are used over the summer for these tournaments. The schools make in the neighborhood of $2500 to $3000 for their programs. This will most likely end for all but a few schools. I think the tournament will continue to use ECB as a facility and probably Kell as well as Lassiter since they are both close to ECB.

Overall, it should be a very positive thing for the North Georgia Baseball Community.

Now that is some great news and maybe just maybe will get some baseball juices flowing on this forum. In the past several years I have never seen you guys have so little to say.

Let's get all of your thoughts on what this new state of the art baseball complex will mean for our kids. How will it impact travel baseball as a whole?

Let's hear from all of you guy's

Papa,

Think this is the greatest baseball blessing to the up and coming kids that live close by. It will keep kids in baseball a little
longer than the 13u drop off. I hope they put in the best drainage system known to man. Also think the other TD will bend over backwards to put on the best tourney they can with this type of competition.

PS We watched the Bandit video forty eleven times but cant find it now. Must be a glick. Envy what you got to do. Never made it to Disney.

I wonder what will happen to the fields IF the retail store side of the complex does not fill up with vendors.

Thanks 3son for the endorsement but the question was do you have an opinion on LakePointe Dreamparks and just think if it wasn't for me and moser you might not have anything to complain about. Simple solution is to just read what parts you like and if you don't find anything you like just don't read it.

Unfortunately, this will come a bit late for our family to enjoy a direct benefit, but I'm excited to see it moving forward all the same. The economic benefit will be very measurable, and I'll have another place to get my baseball fix when mine is off to college. Kudos to the founders and the local political types for putting the deal together. This will further establish/enhance Georgia's position as a youth/prep/travel baseball hotbed and will be of particular benefit to local families who would otherwise take their kids and their money to Ft. Myers.

Yea, you take yours and moser's 10+ posts average per day for three years away and it does seem like it is a little quiet. j/k Looks like the big thing now is writing novels instead of 100's of small posts.
