I seems to me by now everyone should know the bat regulations for the age level team they are trying out for. Yet and still I see kids showing up and using bats that are illegal for competition at tryouts. I've seen one coach call a kid out on it but others just let it slide. I can understand why someone would want a competitive advantage, but do they really think the coaches don't notice what's going on?

There is no -5 requirement at 13U.The only requirement is the USSSA 1.15 bpf stamp.

Actually, for 13U he can still use a drop 10.

While I am sure there are a few instances like this, I would also say that there are a few who are purposely doing it too and maybe the coaches will 'ding' them for that on their evals. Maybe the coaches will have to examine each bat before the player hits just like the umpires should do as well. It is sad that we even have to talk about it.
