Posted - 07/26/2012 : 22:29:53 I am looking for everyone's input on uniform manufacturer recommendations. We are about to embark on purchasing our gear for Fall 2012 so I am seeking advice about the brand your team has worn or is buying this year as well as your experience with the gear. Looking for the truth, positives and negatives, the good, the bad, and the ugly. We are looking at Boombah gear but I don't have a history with their stuff to know if it is worth it. We used UA gear last year and I was not impressed with it especially for the premium we had to pay for it. The bottom line is that the gear has to last or it's not worth it no matter how cheap the price. Thanks in advance! |

Posted - 07/31/2012 : 21:08:24 Many thanks to baseball_fan, MMavericks, uwga7, bball2000, nastycurve, iheartbaseball, & ramman999 for the useful information. I placed an order this afternoon with Boombah to obtain some samples so we can size the kids. The lady from customer service was GREAT so my experience with them so far is off to a good start. Regarding Boombah, does anyone have any history with their Authentic Custom or Semi-Custom baseball jerseys or the Sharp Series caps? We are going to keep it simple for the Fall but the Authentic line is definitely something we will look at for 2013. I am leaning toward the Richardson caps but I am also interested in the Teamworks cap mentioned by nastycurve above. The blank Sharp Series caps are about half the price of a blank Richardson cap. |

We wear mizuno premier player pant and it holds up very well. For the hats, go with Teamworks, they have a hat that fits just like the MLB 5950 and you can get it for about 15.00 printed. If you need any model numbers, drop me a line.
Not sure if my kid just plays too hard, but we tend to go through a few pairs of mizuno premiers a season - usually gets holes in the knees - if you can rotate (greys and whites) it saves them from wear and tear..
They also run slim fit - my kid is a beanpole so not an issue for him, but it is something to consider -
Jerseys depending on what you like (pro style button down, dri fit, etc) but we've had good success with Reebok and Majestic for button downs, and Augusta and Badger for dry fits.
For Hats, Teamworks is the best value, but I prefer Richardson for the durability |

Posted - 07/29/2012 : 11:05:48 Haven't tried Boombah pants but agree that the Mizuno hold up really well and have used them for several teams. But they are sized a little small compared to other brands. For instance a player who may wear YL in most brands would need a YXL in Mizuno. For hats my favorite is Richardson - great quality for the price. Pacific also makes good hats. For jerseys it depends on what you're looking for. If you want heavy weight pro style then go with Majestic but if you want lightweight jerseys that still look good then go with Teamwork, Alleson, Augusta or Worth. Practice jerseys go with Badger or Alleson. In my opinion Rawlings makes great bats and gloves but not a fan of their equipment bags or uniform items - both seam to rip easily. Nike, Reebok and UA make good cleats, sliders and under-uniform wear. Batting gloves - EvoShield. |

Posted - 07/27/2012 : 23:20:53 Bombah is a great product but you have to be sure of the kids sizes since everything is ordered online. What we did was order some pants and use them for sizing. Then return those when placing your final order. Mizuno pants in my opinion are just as good. I have three boys that all play major ball. Mizuno pants are the only ones I can / have pass down to the other kids for practice pants. |
