Is it normal for a travel team to have each family/player sign a contract or commitment letter?

If so, what types of things are usually covered? Are contracts successful in avoiding the usual pitfalls of travel ball? What should a contract include or not include?

I would stay away from the contracts. Take the money up front, and it is NON-Refundable. I had a player leave for injury and I did refund some of their money.
