I wish someone could explain to me the theory behind USSSA's moving teams up and down. We are just looking at forming a team for the fall but have been following this season to better acquaint ourselves with the whole travel scene. I know teams that will no longer be able to play this season (scheduling conflicts) due to being bumped up in class . Basically with being moved up, their state and world series dates changed. The 2 teams I'm referencing simply played when and where they could no matter the class. Then I heard a certain team who had won 80% of their games in class and > 60% of their games in the next higher class was recently bumped down to a lower class? Sounds to me more like who you know. Do others have similar experiences?

I think Bubba could gives a better insight here. I think a lot of it probably has to do with the "Squeaky Wheel" on some of these questionable moves and USSSA shouldnt give in just because someone squeaks alot.

Maybe I am naive, but WHY is there all this moving of teams up and down? I understand between seasons (fall to spring), I even understand mid season move ups, or helping/penalizing a team for not being competitive in a given class by moving them down, but I've been involved with USSSA teams in other states for years, and have never seen this much movement through the course of a season, even with teams trophy chasing and sandbagging - what's the deal?

I believe the team you speak of....thats my exact question. A team loses only 3 players, but go from a major team to a double A team in 5 weeks time??? The whole process is subjective and has no rhyme or reason to it, from class or age group.
