Why aren't there more 4 or more game guarantee tourneys around?
Seems that with the older age groups, they just make more sense. I realize they would cost more and that's okay. I realize you may spend 3 days trying to finish the tourney, but that's okay too.
I'm kinda sick of the little, tiny, play the same 6 team tourneys that for some teams are 3 and done or 4 and here's your trophy...
If we can play 32+ games in 8 weekends as opposed to only 30+ in 10 weekends, the money saved on travel, food and gate fees washes the additional cost. |

No - they asked that we not bring in food to support the concession stand. Happy to support it and would have bought more had prices been in line. Love cheese sticks at the ball park, a guilty pleasure but $1 per stick? At $3 like other parks (or less) my hubby would have bought some too. We would have all eaten dinner there between games to support the field. Just sayin they weren't in line with other ball park concession stands and we do support them. Whether they had gate fees or not, would the concessions still have cost the same?
Otherwise - the tournament was great and very well run. Fields maintained between games. Umps okay. Just the price of the food when they specifically asked we support the concessions. Just sayin.... |

I think that tournament was a fundraiser, and there were no gate fees. Getting to where TD's can't please anybody. |

I guess they have to make money someway. Sandy Plains has no gate fee and you can always bring in outside food. I'll take that deal any day! |

What we need is a field rating sheet. We played at Harrison Park this weekend (Sandy Plains) and had a great field. Infield grass, parking limited but okay if you didn't mind walking a bit. The kicker was the concession stand. $6.50 for hamburger, tiny amount of fries and a PowerAid. Can spend about the same at the Varsity for two chili dogs, rings and a Varsity Orange. Thought it was ridiculous for it to be that expensive. Next meal time, went to Wendys. We want to help the parks by purchasing from the concessions. But this was ridiculous. $4.00 for cheese sticks - $1 per cheese stick. Check out the other parks Sandy Plains and get that in line!

So far, I have loved every American Legion field we've played at: Loganville, the won across from Wills Park, can't remember the others. |

Harrison Park in Cobb County, next to Lassiter High School; all fields have grass infields, dirt pitching mounds, a bull pen for each side of the field and at least 2 batting cages per field. There are also extra cages and bull pens.
They need to stop using their money for frivolous extras though and concentrate on repairing the lips on the infields and the holes in the outfields. |

At least the Gwinnett county parks have dirt mounds. Some need to be built back up because I've seen some that are like pitching off flat ground and others that have two pitching rubbers which causes the back one from 60 to make you feel like you are pitching uphill toward the 54. Those arched and rounded backstops are terrible though and I kinda hate the skinned infields because they are either like the desert or a giant mud pit. Grass infields like at Norcross and Bunten are great though!

Rhodes Jordan park in downtown Lawrenceville has a 13u field with the right handed batters box is 5 inchs lower than home plate. Was there last weekend and it was dangerous. Pitchers mound was a joke too!

with a 3 day tourney, you have the added challenge of getting teams there Friday. Although I love more games, I hate Friday games. It has to be a really great event for me to leave work early. |
