Just wondering is this the first time teams have played and their rosters are not posted?

Since we have a topic concerning rosters situations, I would like to post a question concerning upcoming tournaments.

I have been looking at the upcoming tourneys(including SNIT's) for our age group and have noticed a few teams signed up that have issues such as....only 7 or 8 players on "current rosters", or teams signed up for tourneys with no roster posted whatsoever???

I was under the impression, that come Jan 1, all teams signed up for tourneys must have a complete current roster of nine to be able to sign up for tournaments...am I missing something?

In the know,

Thanks. you are probably right about not playing in any USSSA events. My guess is that it will be a non issue. i just don't want some kind of technicality to interfere with his playing ball and/or find out that we had to forfeit some games because he was playing with both teams-even though they were different age brackets.

What about if you played in a Super NIT this fall. Is the rooster then frozen? I believe that is what i read in USSSA. Can anyone help to clarify this?

Watch the rosters of the first big up coming tourneys. The rosters have already changed from Jan. Players have been cut or/and parents moved on.

I wouldn't expect Fall rosters to be frozen. The issue there is classifications. There are a lot of teams sandbagging that time of year. I made a suggestion to U-Trip to make Open class tourney's non-roster in the Fall, but require them for AA & AAA. I was told it's a moot point because they would be requiring rosters for Fall as of the 2012-13 season.

Nobody likes a frozen rooster.

I can't see that happening. Lots of teams and players are test driving in the fall and many teams scramble just to field a team in the Fall. Maybe they will make them add the players to a roster but not freeze anyone. I don't see the logic in fall rosters. Some kids play with multipal teams during the fall. Maybe just to verify age?

I do think USSSA should re-think fall SNIT's.

ramman999, did you move?

If you qualify for Elites in the fall your roster is frozen. But, a player can be released from a team that has qualified as long as the qualifying coach agrees...

seems this differs from director to director. We've always been told roster must be online regardless of fall or spring, otherwise team is not considered legal, and points will not be given. For Fall, however, write in players could be used - coach had to turn in roster prior to tournament start.

Regarding SNIT and global qualifiers - your roster must be online because if you win, that roster is frozen.

Riiiiigggghhhht.

If you don't already have a son playing in high school, when you do, you'll soon find out how well this is enforced.....

As to NF1974's question. It's probably not going to be an issue for you unless his summer HS team registers and plays USSSA. I doubt they will. Most play the month of June in the wood bat tourneys hosted by the various high schools. In most cases the teams are a mixture of all classes, so you'll have 15u to 17u players on the same teams, so those rosters would typically violate all the sanctioning bodies roster rules anyway.

I have a roster question. My son is on a 15u team out of ECB.His highschool coach has basically stated that he expects his kids to play travel with the highschool team this summer. He is a current soph so this summer if he plays with his highschool team, it will have to be on a 17u. My plan was to have him play for both teams. i don't expect a lot of conflict with the schedule-just a lot of baseball.I read on a recent post something about-if he plays up on a major team then he can't play down on one? I need some clarification.

Rosters are not required in Georgia for the Fall Season. However, if you play in a Fall Super Nit (anywhere) they are and will freeze if you qualify for the Elite 32. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

Just Fall Ball Schedule usually plays with open rosters while teams are set for 2012 season. After Jan 1 rosters will have to be posted for spring and summer play. Still have to have documentation of players at tournaments.

no , rosters are hardly ever posted in the fall , as everyone p/u players to make a team due to football , etc.
