I saw a comment made in another subject discussion where someone predicted teams merging due to the large number of new teams this fall/spring. I am curious to hear how successful/disasterous this has been in the past for some of you. On the surface it sounds like a good idea. "Hey, you bring your top 4-5 players and I will bring my top 4-5 players and we will have a great team!". Sounds great, but it feels like there are too many potential problems. There is a divide from the beginning. It's like a marriage where both sides are bringing a family of their own into this new family. Will the coaches take sides when things get tough, will the parents all come together, will the kids come together? Seems too risky to me.

For those of you where it did work, why were you successful? For those of you that did not have success, what would you have done different?

No team is perfect but in the end depending on the age and level of play the boys just wanna win. You see players picked up, traded or playing a couple of different teams in the older age groups. This is very common at ECB at 16U and up.

I'd say in the end it's a coin toss. On paper it looks great but in reality maybe not so much or maybe it's exactly as it was designed. A really great team. My son's team is going through this very thing this Fall. I'll let you know how it turns out. :)
