As a general rule, does anyone know if 16U tryouts (ECB, 6-4-3, Nelson, Select, etc) are going to require the players to use BBCOR bats during the tryouts? I only ask because I'm trying to avoid purchasing a BBCOR bat until the manufacturers can get through the next couple of runs.
Our HS summer program purchased BBCOR bats for the players to use through this summer.
I'm hoping to postpone my purchase until Nov/Dec (if possible).
I've been told by several that the longer I wait to purchase, the more "runs" manufacturers can go through...and the more likely, I'll get a higher quality/better performing bat.
With all that said, our team used the Rawlings 5150's (BBCOR) and they seemed well balanced, reasonably priced and they had decent pop. That's probably what we'll end up with when it is all said and done. |

10-4. I'm not sure I completely agree that BBCOR is no different than wood. Our team played with both, and they clearly hit better with the BBCOR bats. Everything that I've read about BBCOR says that the bats are to perform no better than 7% better than wood. So, should there be a marked difference between wood anc BBOCR? In theory, I suppose not. But there was a noticeable difference. Maybe it's a comfort thing..being more used to composite/aluminum than wood?? I don't know, but I do know that as a team, they performed better with the BBCOR bats. Just my two cents..... |

Fuzz- i dont know the straight up answer to this but if you show up with wood then you ought to be fine. Having seen bbcor this summer it is no different than wood. and to be honest- when you get to 16u or older then most of the tourneys you will play in are wood. |
