You know it's bad when an umpire doesn't even know the count in a key situation that could possibly change the outcome of a game. In the past 2 weekends umpires have lost the count an astonishing 3 times and refused to check the official score book for help. A kid shouldnt have to see 5 balls before they get the walk nor should a pitcher have to throw 4 strikes to get the K. Umps are human and not perfect and should know when to confer with the book when they loose the count.

...sometimes it is easy to miss a pitch on say a wild pitch in which you are trying to get out of the way of the catcher so he can make a play on the guy coming home.....Never be scared to consult the official book.

After watching ball 4 to my nephew I asked the umpire, "hey blue wasn't that ball 4??".....His response, "I don't know.." I asked if he forgot his clicker, he said he didn't own one....And then after the game said, "by the third game I'm worn out"......Pathetic IMO
