Just trying to get a feel of how many games (not including scrimmages)a typical 10U/11U team plays in a Spring season (ending in June/July).

Please post if you are 10U AAA, 11U Major etc.

Thanks!

Sounds about right.

Thank you for your responses. I'm trying to gauge if our estimated 40-45 games is too little or enough. Some weekends it seems as if it has been 3-4 weeks since our last game.

I would worry less about how many games and more at how your calendar is filled. As a previous poster mentioned, they need weekends off. Probaly not 2-3 in a row, but every two to three tourneys there should be an empty weekend. If you aren't going deep into tournaments and feel that you aren't getting enough game work in, then use one of the days of the free weekend to schedule a DH scrimmage so you can get that extra work in. That way you can guarantee your competition will be equal to you and you can work on the things that you can't in practice or haven't been able to in games. The key is finding the balance in time for the players to develop and enjoy the game without burning them or the parents out. The scrimmages are also a good time to get kids work at different positions and the kids with fewer plate appearances in games moved up in the order to see some more live pitches.

At the end of the season you'll probably find that you've played 50-65 game.

At 9u played approximately 24 games in Fall, and 66 games in spring season, including an Elite 32 WS trip. Started Mid Feb and ended in July (Disney was August 1-8)

This season (different team) at 10uAAA will have played somewhere around 60 including the season ending trip to Cooperstown - We playing a 3 week on 1 week off schedule 12 tournament schedule, started first week of March.
Will probably also play a 6 tournament fall schedule.

I think it depends on your goals and level of competition, because the # of games depends on the type of tournaments you enter - Super NIT's or big tournaments can get up to 7 games a weekend in a hurry.
Playing an every other week schedule starting in March will give you something like 12 tournaments - add a few back to back weekends and you can get up to 15 pretty quickly - averaging 5 games per, thats 60-75 games.

For us it seems like an off weekend is the most boring never ending period of time!! I ask my nephew all the time what he wants to do and if we aren't playing it is let's goto the cage or can we play with another team?? But all kids are different!! My youngest nephew could care less how many games he plays, he just wants to play baseball like his brother!

I coach an 11u major team. We will play 55 to 60 games depending on how we finish. My main comment would be they need a weekend off every so often. I also encourage our kids to take play league ball to spend time in baseball away from the tournament atmosphere. Not to say we don't want them to have fun in tournament ball but its different from league.

Bandits played 70 games or so last year as an 11u major team.
