Posted - 03/04/2011 : 10:22:46 Heading to CDP this summer and, as you know, I need to bring along an umpire. I am looking for what protocol folks have followed in the past. Does the ump ride up with a family or travel alone? Does the team cover his travel expenses like gas, overnight hotel stays on the trip up and back, food money on travel days, etc? Does the team pay the ump since CDP does not and what amount has traditionally been done? |

Posted - 03/06/2011 : 16:32:24 We put request for umpire on CDP Facebook page and had guy from Boston,MA contact us and he did great. He was already doing week #12, we were week #11 so he just came a week earlier. Our costs were $400 plus 20 pins. Turned out great. |

Posted - 03/04/2011 : 11:25:03 We paid all his travel expenses to and from Cooperstown but we didn't pay him for umping the games. The umpires that want to experience Cooperstown don't usually require payment for the games.
Good Luck and enjoy your time in Cooperstown because it's like nothing else you've ever experienced in the baseball world. |
