Posted - 02/28/2011 : 10:02:50 Just wanted to shout out to all the moms and dads here and say as you roll into this season, treasure the joy and pleasure your son gets out of the game and the enjoyment you get out of watching him. Don't take it for granted that it will always be there. It is not a given and you are truly blessed.
This is our first season of watching baseball instead of playing and it is tough on my son and me. As I went through 5 seasons of travel baseball I never worried about or considered that my sons game might be his last. Did not see a major injury coming that might mean he can't every play sports at a competitive level again (as in ever)coming and now we sit and hope that his body will recover enough to play sports again. Do your best as a parent to make SURE that you and your child are having fun and safeguard his health. |

Easy to say, hard to live – but still true.
The best of luck to your family!

Posted - 03/01/2011 : 07:15:16 Lefty hope your boy has a full recovery. Thank you for taking the time to give us all wise advice. At the end of the day all that really matters is did my son enjoy the weekend of games, did he learn a thing or two and did he do it with passion and integrity. W's are nice but not what is really important. These are 12 year old boys who 20 years from now will share memories with their kids about youth baseball. And have the love of the game. |

Posted - 02/28/2011 : 21:38:10 One of the many reasons I strive to only play with the best possible team and play the most challenging schedule available to us. I don't know if mine will be any good or even play baseball in 6 months much less 6 years, so until then I think we should support our boys the best we can!!
Sorry to hear about that injury, I hope he can come back from it both physically and mentally. |

Posted - 02/28/2011 : 21:03:31 Sorry to hear about your son and hope he has a full recovery and gets back in the game soon. My son fractured his back in a game during his freshman year in high school. We were on pins and needles until his doctor said he would be ok. He was back on the field way sooner than we expected, and I hope your son has the same luck. |
