The #1, #2 combination of Rookie of the Year in the National League once again demonstrates to America what kind of baseball is being played in Georgia. Hats off to Georgia's wealth of up and coming young baseball talent.
I wanted our Atlanta Brave to win this award. Would've been the first since Furcal in 2000. Oh well...Chipper was 2nd in his rookie year and he has worked out OK.
And...since Posey (Lee Co.) edged Heyward (Henry Co.), does that mean the Southside edged out the Northside on this one?
I'm just sayin... :-) |

I know his little bro still plays there, but I am almost certain while Buster never was a full-time player for an EC team he was an addition for several big tournaments? That being said I don't think EC can take a ton of credit for his development. |

According to Perfect Game, in 2003 & 2004, he was on the East Cobb Astros. In 2005, he played for Chain Baseball. Not saying he didn't play for Team USA, but he did play - at least some - for the above teams as well.
I also agree with Beisbol in that the top EC teams in the 15 - 18 ages do not take shabby players and develop them. They take already very good players and go out and win and showcase those players. I'm sure Buster got plenty good down in Lee County. |

I do not know why East Cobb thinks that the every kid that is in the major leagues was because of them. I am from Leesburg Ga. and can tell you that Buster Posey won the rookie of the year, world series ring,plus every award that a college player can win because of his love and passion for the game and working his butt off and has never asked for nobody to show him short cuts to get better.
He spoke to a group of middle schoolers last year and the thing that he felt great about was his 3.94 GPA at FSU.
But sometimes baseball players come a long that have 'IT' and he is one of the few.
dmb350- just to let you know I'm pretty sure that Buster did not go through the E.C. I thingk that you have him and his little brother mixed up.Jess still plays up there in the summer.

It's late April. Spring is far away. I knew this would create some enjoyable discussion. Touche' dmb350. Good show.
But...I'll say that EC team do not take shabby players who need to develop their talent. I've never seen an EC team recruit a shabby player who really needs developing. I have seen them recruit players who are already good, and help them get better and get noticed.
EC takes players, in general, who are good. So...I would say that Mr. Posey, by and large, developed his talents in Leesburg and refined them at EC. |

It's all in good fun. Bottom line is they're from GA and showing the rest of the country that GA is THE state for baseball talent hands down. :) |

LOL!!! Good point, dmb. I would never try to compare the two as you would win every time....we just need to be able to fluff our feathers once in a while when given the chance, ya know? ;) |

Before all you southaide guys get excited how about you consider that both played at ECB and that's Northside all the way. So regardless of where they were living, they developed their skill set in a northside program. I'm just sayin... :) |

Since most people from the Northside call anything South of I-20 the "Southside" then I have to believe that the Northside was not even represented in the race. I'm just sayin.... LOL! ;)
