Could someone tell me if they have had any success with phone apps for scoring games and keeping up with ERA. If so what are are the names of the aps. Some appear to be expensive and just want to make sure to get the right one the first time. Not sure if it makes any difference but I have T-Mobile. Thanks |

I was the administrator for our team and can go in, without logging in, and see the play by play from games this summer. I saw the same info on the FAQ section of the website.
I have been talking with the President of the company on things that we saw, using it this summer, that can make it better. The next time I talk to him I will get more details.
As an admin, I would prefer that the cost, hopefully very small, go to the people wanting to see the live play by play. This does two things 1) ensures that the people coming to watch the play by play have more than casual interest and 2) the cost is incurred by the people who are benefiting from it instead of the people that had to take off from work, or adjust their schedule, to be there scoring the game. I played both roles this summer and would have gladly paid a fee to be able to keep up with what was going on. Just ask people "If you had to work, and were not able to be at your kid's game, how much would it be worth to you to be able to see the play by play details, along with getting text alerts at every half inning?" |

@itsaboutbb...The only app currently available in the Android Market is "6-4-3 Baseball Scorecard". I haven't tried it yet, but with no other options at the moment I probably will. It was developed by a regular guy who wanted an app for this purpose and decided to create one to fill the void. The cost is $9.99 which is inline with iScore. The developer has given it the look as if you are doing the scorecard with pencil in a scorebook, which I thought was pretty cool. All the reviews of the app have been very good. |

I followed my son's team this past season on GameChanger and never had to pay anything. I just set up a free account and was good to go. I had access to the live feed and all stats. |

I have used iScore successfully for a year now as well. As for the comment about difficulty to update the lineup during the game, there are techniques to doing this effectively. If you haven't taken the time to watch the online training videos offered, you should. There are some great shortcuts that are outlined in these videos.
I used K-Force before that, but switched to iScore for the easier interface and the live feed to families. $9.99 was also considerably cheaper than K-Force at the time.
Also, we had several grandparents who followed the season from afar and were very happy with it. Of course it required either cellular connection to the internet or a wireless connection. |

Gamechanger is a free app for the team and user (scorer), but there is a subscription fee that must be paid by each follower of your team for viewing the live game stats.
There is a $9.99 charge for the iScore app, but followers of your team get the live scoring on the internet for free.
So the choice is who pays. Our choice was make it free for our followers and they would be more likely to use it and keep up with our team. |

iScore is great if you have access to all the lineups/subs, etc., for both teams prior to start of game. I've played with it a bit and I haven't found a good option for building the lineups or adding subs as the game is in progress. Game Changer allows you to start a game and add each batter in the linuep as they make a plate appearance each time. I have also found GC to be much more user friendly and intuitive to use for actual scoring. The downside for iScore is that it provides 3 free users for the online portion and any additional users that want to subscribe to view stats or get the live gamecasts to pay a one-time $10 (currently) fee.
From a scoring/user perspective, I favor GC over iScore. |

iSCORE! Have been using it for a year now and although I have no experience with any other apps, cannot imagine anything being any easier to use and the stats it generates are incredible and accurate as long as you can differentiate between a hit and an error. |

Gamechanger is the free app we used this past year. We scored almost 90 games through it and it works great. It allows you to broadcast the play by play over the internet so family members that cannot attend the game can keep up. It has great stats, which are downloadable to Excel.
I would certainly recommend this free one before I go paying for one. |

If you have an iPhone or iPad, iSCORE is the way to go. It takes a few games to learn all the subtle scoring attributes, but the live iScoreCasts are great for fans of your team that can't make the game. From their computer (or iPhone with the PlaybyPlay app), they can watch your scoring of the game live. If you purchase their team website, the cumulative team stats are maintained and can be made available for public viewing or password protected. |

iSCORE (by ESPN) is good but it works on the iPhone & iPad. It also pushes out an animated screen to the web so friends and family can keep up with the game based on your scoring. It's a great reason to run out and get a NEW iPad !!!
GameChanger and Point Streak K-Force are other apps that have been around for awhile.
Strangely, these apps are much less expensive in the iPhone mobile version. |
