Posted - 08/25/2010 : 09:34:55 I know how we all feel about the silly rules that LL plays with at this age but bottom line the kids that are left in this tournament have talent. Especially the pitchers. Regardless of our thoughts on LL it is time to rally behind our friends from Columbus and show the world the best baseball is right here in Georgia! Let's go boys bring the LLWS title back to the peach state!![](icon_smile.gif) |

Posted - 08/27/2010 : 15:50:04 Well Pate is pitching today and has givine up 7 runs and hit 4 batters. Pate doesn't have good off speed stuff and throws across his body.. Nothing but fast balls... Hawaii's BATS won this game and their coaching.. |

Posted - 08/27/2010 : 09:39:20 Let me play armchair quarterback on yesterday's Georgia game. Not sure Georgia should've kept Pate off the mound. What are they saving him for? Texas? They are in jeopardy of not even getting opportunity to face them. I've always had the strategy of going with your best, once elimination round begins, until they can't be used . I'll throw the Team Mom in the championship game if necessary, but I want to get there. They've now put themselves up against it and have conceded to having to beat Texas without Pate on the hill. The same position they would've been in if he was the starting pitcher in last night's game, which game them the best chance to win yesterday. Difference is today Hawaii has momentum!!
Looks like a no win situation for Columbus because, other than Pate, I haven't seen anyone that can hold off Texas or the International Champion.
So if they're fortunate enough to beat Hawaii with Pate, they won't have anyone for Texas.
If they get past Hawaii without Pate and use him to help them get past Texas they have nothing for the International Champion.
Think they should try using Pate in the 3rd, 4th and 5th innings today and hope he stays under the pitch count to be eligible for the USA vs. World Championship if they're fortunate enough to win the Hawaii game and the Texas game. |

Posted - 08/26/2010 : 18:27:12 And then there were 3! Team depth..advantage Texas. Did you see the difference between Texas's #3 and #4 versus the Northwests? That was the determining factor, plus 2 defensive gems in the bottom of the 6th by Texas's Short Stop and Right Fielder. Great game.
Go GA! |

Posted - 08/26/2010 : 10:24:06 bmoser saw that small ball against Panama...know the scary part? They outscored opponents 41-0 in two previous games. Ouch!! They went small in the fifth inning recognizing two or three runs would win it; Panama had a beast on the mound. The Asian Pacific and Japanese clubs have always been known for executing. Also Chinese Tapei has made only one error and their pitchers have 6 BB in 14 innings. |

I agree with your picks. Georgia's tough when they have their #1 or #2 on the mound, but they fall off quite a bit after those 2.
Texas seems to have the most depth of all the U.S. teams. I think that depth comes more into play beginning today due to the scheduling where they have more games on fewer days rest. We're about to see who has the best #3 and #4.
Chinese Taipei unleashed some impressive small ball yesterday to open up Panama's Canal. Those 2 bunts were the plays of the game. |

Posted - 08/26/2010 : 08:50:00 Anyone know much about the pitching availability for remaining USA teams? Hopefully Georgia saw the best Hawaii had to offer in their first matchup...Any pitcher on the Georgia staff comparable to Jacob Pate (winning pitcher in 6-2 victory over Hawaii) ? I'm sure the Georgia coaches are hoping to save him for potential Championship game. Not sure they will handle Texas without him on the mound.
Thinking the Texas team was holding back pitching knowing they were going to face Washington pitcher Isaiah Hatch yesterday and that Washington has to beat them twice. Now that Washington has burned Hatch, Texas should have a easier time winning.
Texas team is pretty loaded, with players from Twelve Team Rawling (Super Series National Champs and NYBC participant, last year's 11U Elite 32 runner-up) Texas Nationals Team, American Avengers III and Banditos Black. All above listed teams are much more competitive than the "travel" rosters our Columbus players have previously been on. I think we do have advantage with more field time at LL dimensions...hope it helps.
My prediction is Columbus, GA vs. Pearland, TX in USA Title Game.
Chinese Tapei over Japan in International Title game. |

Posted - 08/25/2010 : 09:47:27 Agreed...and keep it rolling Columbus!! Looks like they play again Thursday (8/26) evening. Some of these pitchers need body armor @ 46ft with those composite bats. A couple of them got nailed yesterday. |
