I'm in the market for a new bat for my son who plays 13U. Any recommendations on brands to purchase and ones to avoid. He currently uses a Louisville Slugger, Drop 8.

He uses an Air 2X TPX. A very good quality bat for the price, but I'd be willing to spend a bit more it there is a better product available.

My son played 13U and moved up to a 32/27 Louisville Slugger H2 Hybrid that he really liked. Unfortunately, the end cap cracked at the end of the season and they sent us the new 2011 model which he didn't really get to use now that the season is over. It has less than 25 swings on it if you're interested. I'd make you a great deal on an almost new bat!

Demarini voodoo is a great bat for this age. Several of our kids got Marucci's last season but they were prone to denting.

If he likes the Louisville Slugger, he will probably like the LS Exogrid. It also will meet next year's HS rule change. I would recommend going to a -5, though.
